For many years, the people of Xuan Quang 1 Commune have lived in severe water shortages during every dry season. Now, they are overjoyed as Binh Minh Plastics Joint Stock Company, in collaboration with local authorities, youth volunteers, and many organizations, has brought clean running water from the source directly to their homes.

Bringing clean water to arid lands

Every year in the dry season, the lives of the people in Xuan Quang 1 Commune (Dong Xuan District, Phu Yen Province) become extremely difficult due to the lack of domestic water. Every day, villagers must travel long and rough roads to find water. The local water supply infrastructure is almost non-existent, forcing them to rely on rainwater available only for about three months a year. For the rest of the year, they face severe drought, causing daily anxiety and insecurity. Now, with the completion of the gravity-fed water supply project, the people of Xuan Quang 1 can live with greater peace of mind.

On September 7, Binh Minh Plastics Joint Stock Company, together with the People’s Committee of Xuan Quang 1 Commune, Phu Yen Provincial Youth Union, and HCMC University of Technology and Education Youth Union, organized the inauguration and handover of the youth project installing a gravity-fed water system from Vuc Tron to the villages of Xuan Quang 1.

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Asada Boonsrirat, Deputy General Director and representative of distributor Phuong Hoang; Mr. Nguyen Van Thoi, Standing Deputy Secretary of Dong Xuan District Party Committee, Chairman of Dong Xuan People’s Council; Mr. Dang Van Trong, Deputy Secretary, Chairman of Dong Xuan People’s Committee; Mr. Vo Duy Kha, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union; representatives of HCMC University of Technology and Education, local leaders, and a large number of residents of Xuan Quang 1 Commune.

The project was carried out in two challenging but meaningful phases. Phase one, launched on July 22, successfully installed a gravity-fed water system from Vuc Tron to Ky Lo and Suoi Coi 1 villages, opening a new chapter in local life. Phase two, conducted on September 7, extended the system to Suoi Coi 2, marking a project that brings positive and sustainable change for the whole Xuan Quang 1 Commune.

With a total length of over 8,000 meters of Binh Minh plastic pipes and fittings, and an investment of about 1 billion VND, the project has transformed local infrastructure. Of this, Binh Minh Plastics contributed more than 600 million VND, while local authorities mobilized social resources of 400 million VND.

The program was carried out over two months with enthusiastic participation from the Phu Yen Provincial Military Command, more than 200 student volunteers from HCMC University of Technology and Education, and Binh Minh Plastics employees, who contributed one workday alongside local residents to install the water pipeline.

The success of the project was the result of contributions from many stakeholders: local authorities, the Provincial Youth Union and Military Command of Phu Yen, HCMC University of Technology and Education, and Binh Minh Plastics. Their collective strength delivered results beyond expectations. Smooth coordination accelerated progress and ensured quality, turning the dream of Xuan Quang 1 residents into reality.

The indescribable joy of Xuan Quang 1 residents was the most meaningful achievement of the project. Mr. Nguyen So, a resident of Suoi Coi 1 Village, watching water flow into his home, expressed: "We are very happy and grateful because water is like blood in the body, it is indispensable. We are overjoyed. Thanks to the attention of local authorities, Binh Minh Plastics, and volunteer youth forces, we no longer worry about drought. Underground water here is scarce, so during the dry season, life was very hard. We had to beg for water from far away, or fetch from rivers and streams. It was extremely difficult. Now that water has come to us, everyone is delighted."

Sharing efforts for the community

These meaningful activities are part of the "Cherish the Water Source, Love the Future" program initiated by Binh Minh Plastics JSC since 2023, bringing clean water to thousands of households. By mid-2024, Binh Minh Plastics had supported more than 1,357 households with a total of over 27,000 meters of PVC-U pipes and 9,700 meters of HDPE pipes. These figures are not merely achievements but symbols of Binh Minh’s dedication and relentless effort to improve community living standards.
